Property and building law

Property (real estate) and building law is a broad area of law which provides rules relating to immovable property. This area of law pertains to public as well as civil law.

Public building law is particularly relevant if a building plan is to be realised. This requires various permits from a public authority, usually the local council. The most common permits are the integrated environmental permits, whether or not in combination with exemption from the current zoning plan.

The civil part of property and building law not only relates to the development, purchase and sale of a home or a business property, but also to other areas of law involving immovable property, like easements, ground lease, mortgage right and neighbours' statutory rights and obligations.
